I have been working with the Hindu Women’s Group of Brighton and Hove for years now to programme the annual Diwali event at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, which often attracts over 2000 people.

This year’s event included henna hand painting, Bollywood dance workshops, a chance to dress up in traditional Indian clothing and the opportunity to make and decorate traditional clay lamp, or diya. A particular strength this year was close collaboration with the Dome, which saw the Link Door between both buildings open throughout and a dance finale lead by the Hindu Women’s Group in the Foyer Bar.

It’s a privilege to be able to work with the same community group year on year, and the  women involved are always so much fun  – roll on next year!
